    Family: Elephantidae
  2. endemic only to Sumatran Island in Indonesia; they love most tropical forests and rivers, but 69% of their original roaming range has long gone due to deforestation
  3. humans are their biggest threat: deforestation for farmland and human settlements, which not only decreases their habitats but can also lead to conflict with/mortality by humans. Illegal hunting for ivory is another threat also posed by humans.
  4. there is only 2,400-2,800 left in the wild and numbers are continuing to decrease; they’re classed as critically endangered
