Animal Facts:
  1. Class: Mammalia
    Family: Ursidae
  2. the Giant Panda is native to south central China, they live in a few mountain ranges in central China, mainly in Sichuan, but also in neighbouring Shaanxi and Gansu.
  3. there are several population estimates, and it is likely there is under 2,000 in the wild, about 239 in captivity in China, and 49 in captivity worldwide. They are a conservation reliant species meaning if threats and reproduction tastes don’t improve they won’t survive without conservation efforts keeping them going
  4. their biggest threats are deforestation, loss of habitat (for farming and tourism), poaching and climate change (which could effect bamboo growth; the panda main food source)
